Our Mission
Holistic Resilience strengthens freedom of expression and digital rights by building secure, resilient infrastructure and tools that keep communication open amid repression. We equip individuals and communities to stay connected, informed, and safe—advancing responsible mobilization, collective resilience, and principled advocacy for a free, open information space.
On a Mission
Holistic Resilience is an independent, U.S.-based nonprofit of technologists, researchers, creatives, and advocates. We defend freedom of expression and digital rights by building secure, resilient technologies that keep communication open under repression.
We pair engineering with field support: developing government-independent connectivity, counter-surveillance safeguards, and crisis-ready tools; translating complex threats into practical guidance; strengthening local partners through training and rapid response; and advancing advocacy that protects an open information space.
Our work is anchored in clear principles: people-first security, privacy by default, open and auditable systems, local ownership over outside control, and impact measured by safety, uptime, and reach.

Works
We deploy portable, community-operated links—using satellite-backed backhaul—to route traffic outside government control, restore access during blackouts, and keep news, services, and families online when local networks are throttled or cut.
We investigate spyware, tracking, and platform abuse; publish plain-language guidance and toolkits; and train partners to harden systems, report incidents, and reduce risk across everyday apps and devices.
A decentralized, community-owned censorship-circumvention tool turning local servers into resilient gateways. Scales without chokepoints, restores access during throttling/shutdowns, and equips trusted operators with open-source tools.
A low-data alert system delivering verified, location-aware updates, check-ins, and safety guidance. Built for weak connections and multiple languages, it helps people navigate protests, outages, and disasters with trusted information.
We continuously measure throttling, blocks, and blackouts; publish real-time maps and alerts; and trigger response playbooks so communities can document disruptions, escalate issues, and stay connected under pressure.
We support independent reporting that exposes censorship, corruption, and rights abuses—providing tip lines, data analysis, and safety guidance so journalists can verify evidence, protect sources, and publish without compromising privacy
